Using one application, undergraduate Costello College of Business students can apply for a variety of George Mason University and Costello College of Business scholarships.
Funding for these scholarships comes from philanthropic support. Both need-based and merit-based scholarships are awarded by the Costello College of Business, and the funds are credited to the student's account in late summer.

Student Emergency Assistance Fund
Mason University Life offers support for current students who are experiencing immediate financial obstacles, such as homelessness and food insecurity. Requests for this funding are reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, complete the Student Emergency Assistance Fund form.

Costello College of Business Scholarships
Accounting Advisory Council Scholarship
The Accounting Advisory Council Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to undergraduates enrolled in the Costello College of Business who are majoring in accounting.
Criteria: Applicants must be accounting majors, and demonstrate high academic achievement and financial need as per the discretion of the Costello College of Business Scholarship Selection Committee. Applicants must be enrolled full-time and have a 3.25 or greater GPA.
Accounting Excellence Scholarship
The Accounting Excellence Fund was established to provide operational support for the accounting area.
Criteria: Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates enrolled in the Costello College of Business who are majoring in accounting in order to recognize an outstanding accounting major in the Costello College of Business. Applicants must be enrolled full-time and have a 3.25 or greater GPA.
Anne K. Altman and Xavier W. Alire Scholarship
The Anne K. Altman and Xavier W. Alire Scholarship was established in 2009 by Anne Altman, BS ’82, to provide scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree within the Costello College of Business.
Criteria: Recipients may be in-state or out-of-state, full-time or part-time, and will qualify on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
Anonymous Scholarship
Criteria: For undergraduates who are either first generation college students or who have a parent who is employed as a janitor or custodian. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or eligible non-citizens with documented financial need.
Anonymous Scholarship
Criteria: Provide scholarships for undergraduates who are classified as seniors, seeking a degree in accounting, finance, management, or marketing. Applicants must have obtained a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA and a 3.8 GPA in their specific degree program and have documented financial need. Recipients must currently work in the janitorial/custodial industry and have been employed within the janitorial/custodial industry for a minimum of two years and/or have immediate family members who currently work in the janitorial/custodial industry and have been employed within the janitorial/custodial industry for a minimum of two years. Preference will be given to first generation U.S. citizens and first generation college students of Asian descent. Awarded to a full-time student(s) enrolled in the Costello College of Business.
Anzilotti Scholarship Endowment
The Anzilotti Endowed Scholarship was established in 2004 by Mr. and Mrs. Michael G. Anzilotti to benefit undergraduate students.
Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be full-time, in-state undergraduates in the Costello College of Business, and will qualify on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
Cabalu Scholarship Endowment
The Cabalu Endowed Scholarship was established in 2010 by George C. Cabalu, ’92. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing a degree within the Costello College of Business, with preference given to students of Asian-American descent who are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
Criteria: Applicants must have a 2.7 GPA or greater and demonstrated financial need.
Coleman Raphael Scholarship Endowment
The Coleman Raphael Endowed Scholarship was established in 1986 by the employees of Atlantic Research Corporation in honor of Dr. Coleman Raphael, former chairman of the board.
Criteria: The scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate students in the Costello College of Business
Cornell Wells Endowed Scholarship
The Cornell Wells Endowed Scholarship was established in 2012 by Charlie H. Mills, III to provide support to students pursuing a degree from the Costello College of Business.
Criteria: Applicants must be active duty military, a reservist, or a military veteran with an Honorable Discharge.

Dr. Hale N. Tongren Marketing Scholarship Endowment
The Tongren Marketing Endowed Scholarship was established in 1986 by Dr. Hale N. Tongren to provide scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students in marketing.
Criteria: Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors. Applicants must have a 3.0 or greater GPA.
EagleBank Scholarship (Entrepreneurship)
Scholarship funding provided by EagleBank.
Criteria: Costello College of Business major and entrepreneurship minor; students may be in-state or out-of-state; preference to Washington, D.C., VA, MD students. Required: essay and letter of recommendation;
In order to apply for the EagleBank Scholarship in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, applicants must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words (each question), answering the following questions:
- What is the greatest challenge facing American small business owners today? Also, what areas or industries provide the greatest opportunities for small business owners to innovate and succeed?
- How do you define innovation in today's world?
EagleBank Scholarship (Government Contracting)
Criteria: The EagleBank Scholarship in Government Contracting was established by EagleBank to provide support for undergraduate students pursuing any major within the Costello College of Business or a minor in government contracting, and for graduate students pursuing an accelerated master's degree in government accounting. Recipients may be in-state or out-of-state students. Preference will be given to students from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
EagleBank Scholarship (Real Estate)
Criteria: We strongly encourage all candidates to submit a professional letter of recommendation from a current or past employer in the real estate industry. A letter from a client is acceptable provided the relationship has been professional and long-standing. Costello College of Business major; students maybe in-state or out-of-state; preference to Washington, D.C., VA, MD students.
In order to apply for the EagleBank Scholarship in Real Estate, applicants must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words (each question), answering the following questions:
- What do you see as the next significant challenge facing developers in our market and why? Also, assuming it was feasible to develop any project in Arlington that you wanted, what would you choose and why?
- During the award of last year’s scholarships, EagleBank CEO Ron Paul discussed the importance of good leadership with the recipients. He believes there are six important elements to leadership: (1) making an active contribution, (2) developing & maintaining relationships, (3) taking ownership/responsibility, (4) developing expertise, (5) developing a vision, and (6) living a life worth living. Please describe how you have exemplified one of these six elements. Please give an example of a professional contribution you have made to the real estate industry thus far in your career.
Emanuel A. Baker, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The Emanuel A. Baker, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1979 in memory of Emanuel A. Baker, Sr. by the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors, through multiple donors, to benefit students majoring in finance.
Financial Planning and Wealth Management Scholarship
The Financial Planning and Wealth Management Scholarship was established by the Financial Planning and Wealth Management Advisory Board in 2022.
The fund provides scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in financial planning and wealth management. Recipients must be members of the Financial Planning Association George Mason Student Chapter, may be enrolled full-time or part-time, may be in-state or out-of-state students, and will qualify on the basis of financial need and academic merit (minimum GPA of 3.0). Preference will be given to students with demonstrated leadership in the Mason community.
First Virginia Bank Scholarship Endowment
The First Virginia Bank Endowed Scholarship was established in 1997 by First Virginia Bank to provide scholarships for undergraduates in finance.
Criteria: Applicants must be enrolled full-time and will be asked to provide a current resume.
George Mason Bank-John C. Wood Endowed Scholarship
The George Mason Bank-John C. Wood Endowed Scholarship was established in 1994 by George Mason Bank in honor of the Honorable John C. Wood, who was a director of the bank, first chair of the George Mason University Foundation, and first rector of George Mason University.
Criteria: Applicants must be incoming freshman and residents of Northern Virginia pursuing a degree in the Costello College of Business who have documented financial need.
GOV Services INC Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2011 by L.T. Services, Inc. for undergraduates who are either first generation college students or who have a parent who is employed as a janitor or custodian.
Criteria: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or eligible non-citizens with documented financial need.
Great American Restaurants Scholarship Fund
The Great American Restaurants Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 by the Great American Restaurants Group to provide scholarships for George Mason University students. Current employees of Great American Restaurants studying in other schools and colleges are also encouraged to apply.
Criteria: Applicants must be full-time undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need. Awards should be used for tuition only. Students who are interested in working in the restaurant industry are also eligible. Recipients must be undergraduates, and may either full or part-time students who are either in or out-of-state. They will qualify on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
The H. Russell Griffith Endowed Scholarship
Criteria: Undergraduate student enrolled in the Costello College of Business
Interstate Van Lines Scholarship Fund
The Interstate Van Lines Endowed Scholarship was established in 1983 by Interstate Van Lines for student support to encourage the study of transportation.
Criteria: Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled full-time in the Costello College of Business with a 2.5 or greater GPA. Additionally, applicants must be residents of Northern Virginia and will be asked to provide a current resume. Preference to employees or dependents of employees and/or students interested in transportation management. Preference to employees or dependents of employees of Interstate Van lines if more than one person meets above criteria.
Indus Corporation Endowed Fund
The Indus Corporation Endowed Scholarship was established in 2001 by INDUS Corporation.
Criteria: Applicants must be full-time undergraduates pursuing a degree from the Costello College of Business and must have a 3.25 or greater cumulative GPA. Preference will be given to students who are interested in pursuing careers in technology management.
Jacqueline and Jean Brozna Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Criteria: For an incoming freshman who is the top 1/3 of their high school class. Student must be a resident of Richmond and demonstrate financial need.
James R. Beers Endowed Scholarship
The James R. Beers Endowed Scholarship was established in 2006 by Beers and Cutler in honor of founding partner James R. Beers. The fund provides scholarships for undergraduates in accounting.
Criteria: Applicants must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.15 GPA. Three must be juniors with min GPA of 3.25 in intro accounting class and overall min cumulative GPA of 3.15. Three will be seniors with min GPA of 3.25 in intro accounting class and overall min cumulative GPA of 3.15. Preference for the seniors will be given to those students who have accepted internship with Baker Tilly. Preference will be given to students with permanent residences or intention to work in accounting after graduation in the Greater Metro area (DMV).
Janis S. Reed Endowed Scholarship
The Janis S. Reed Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 by Janis S. Reed to provide scholarships for undergraduates majoring in accounting.
Criteria: Applicants will qualify on the basis of financial need and academic merit. Preference will be given to in-state applicants.
Johnson Family Scholarship Endowment
Criteria: This fund provides scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students with documented financial need in the Costello College of Business.
Kaylene Green Endowed Scholarship
Criteria: Students studying in the Costello College of Business who have demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and service to the school. The selection committee, which will be appointed by the dean, will have the discretion to determine what qualifies to fulfill the criteria of leadership, acumen, and service. Additionally, applicants may be full or part-time and either in or out-of-state, and will have completed 60 credit hours. Recipients will be actively employed either full or part-time and may be asked to provide proof of employment. Strong preference will be given to students who have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Kearney and Company Scholarship in Accounting
Criteria: Will be awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in accounting with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The recipient must be working part-time or full-time and be actively participating in community service (of any kind). Ideally this candidate is in the accelerated masters program (Jr/Sr) and wants to pursue GovCon accounting. The recipient may be a full-time or part-time student and may be an in- or out-of-state resident.
Kearney and Company Scholarship in Accounting/ Kearney and Company Fund
Criteria: Awarded to a graduate or non-degree student who has completed the first two courses toward the four courses required to complete the Government Accounting Certificate, in partnership with Kearney and Company. The recipient may be a full-time or part-time student and may be an in- or out-of-state resident.
Kenneth A. Kovach Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Kenneth A. Kovach Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2008. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for full-time undergraduates in the Costello College of Business who are majoring in management.
Criteria: Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to a student who will pursue a career in labor relations or human resource management.
Kevin and Veronica McCrohan Endowed Scholarship
The Kevin and Veronica McCrohan Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 by Kevin McCrohan, PhD. This fund provides scholarships for students majoring or minoring in marketing in the Costello College of Business who are serving or have served (1) on active duty in the Special Operations forces of any US military service or (2) in the combat arms of the U.S. Army (Combat Arms or Combat Support; Air Defense Artillery, Armor, Aviation Engineers, Field Artillery, Infantry, Chemical Corps, Military Intelligence, Military Police or Signal Corps), or (3) in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Criteria: Preference will be given to those in category 1 above, and appropriate documentation of service will be required, such as Form DD-214. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Strongest preference will be given to applicants with GPAs of 3.0 and above.
Kumar Mehta Endowed Scholarship in Information Systems and Operations Management
The Kumar Mehta Endowed Scholarship in Information Systems and Operations Management was established in 2011 by Dr. Kumar Mehta. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for undergraduates pursuing a major in information systems and operations management.
Criteria: Freshmen are not eligible for this award. Applicants must be full-time students.
Mason Dream Scholarship
The Mason Dream Scholarship was established in 2016. This fund provides scholarships to students whose immigration status may hinder them from accessing higher education.
Criteria: Applicants may be documented or undocumented immigrant students, regardless of Visa, DACA, and/or TPS status. Preference will be given to a Costello College of Business student, but can also be awarded to students from any Mason degree program with special consideration given to students identified by the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education.
Northern Chapter of Virginia Society of Certified Accountants Scholarship
The Northern Chapter of Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship was established to provide scholarships for students majoring in Accounting.
Criteria: Scholarships will be awarded to students currently enrolled in ACCT 330, with the intention to major in accounting. One scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate accounting major who has completed at least ACCT 331. All scholarships awarded will be based upon merit and a review of academic records with an emphasis on performance in accounting courses.
Parvin Van Enger Endowed Scholarship
Criteria: Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in accounting who is a U.S. citizen.
Peter B. Tarbox Scholarship Endowment
The Peter B. Tarbox Endowed Scholarship was established in 1990 in memory of Peter B. Tarbox, BS ’79, by his family to encourage students in their academic endeavors.
Criteria: This scholarship is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, but applicants must be enrolled at least half-time.
Peterson Family Scholarship in Real Estate Development
Criteria: MS in Real Estate Development student who reflects the Peterson company’s dedication to developing thriving communities. Preference is given to residents of MD,VA, and Washington, D.C., with at least two years of work experience of some sector of the commercial reals estate industry. Sectors include but not limited to: brokers, architects, civil engineers, construction managers, lenders, and real estate attorney
Raleigh F. Steinhauer Scholarship in Business and Policy Strategy
The Raleigh F. Steinhauer Endowed Scholarship in Business Policy and Strategic Management was established in 1988 by Dr. Raleigh F. Steinhauer to benefit students in their senior year or students at the graduate level.
Criteria: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and enrolled in, or required to enroll in, a Business Policy/Strategic Management course to fulfill degree requirements. Additionally, the recipient will be required to satisfactorily complete a major research project in Business Policy/Strategic Management, under the guidance of a qualified faculty member.
Richard A. Klimoski Honors Endowed Scholarship
The Richard J. Klimoski Honors Endowed Scholarship was established in 2009 in honor of Richard A. Klimoski, former dean of the Costello College of Business, faculty member, and former trustee of the George Mason University Foundation.
Criteria: This fund provides scholarships for outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate leadership qualities. Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.75 GPA. Applicants must also be enrolled at least half-time.
Robert M. Amey Business Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of the scholarship is to support undergraduate students enrolled in the Costello College of Business.
Criteria: Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, must be in-state students, must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0, may be enrolled full-time or part-time, will qualify on the basis of academic merit (minimum GPA of 3.0), and will be selected by a committee appointed by the Dean of the Costello College of Business in coordination with the Office of Student Financial Aid. This scholarship is renewable.
Rothstein Investment Advisors, Inc. Scholarship Endowment
The Rothstein Investment Advisors Inc. Endowed Scholarship was established in 1997 by Rothstein Investment Advisors for the purpose of providing support for undergraduate business students.
Criteria: Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time and must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.
Ruth A. and Gilbert E. Merten Endowed Scholarship
The Gilbert and Ruth Merten Endowed Scholarship was established in 1997 in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert E. Merten by their son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sally Merten. Dr. Alan G. Merten is a former university president.
Criteria: The fund provides scholarships for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the fields of business, engineering, science, or technology. The recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and carry a full-time course load.
School of Business Alumni Chapter Emerging Business Leader Endowed Scholarship
The Emerging Business Leader Scholarship is sponsored by the Costello College of Business Alumni Chapter.
Criteria: Registered Mason student in a Costello College of Business degree program; Excellent academic standing; Minimum 3.5 GPA for undergraduate students; Minimum 3.75 GPA for graduate students; Undergraduate candidates must have completed at least 60 credit hours. Transfer students must have at least 12 Mason credit hours (juniors and up); Student award recipients are also chosen based on the following criteria: scholastic achievement, leadership and business acumen, commitment to global awareness or diversity, service to the Costello College of Business and George Mason University, and other community service, philanthropic efforts, and awards.
School of Business Scholarship Fund
The Costello College of Business Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships to Costello College of Business students.
Shrivastava Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support for students enrolled in the Costello College of Business.
Criteria: Recipients will be from underrepresented groups in the field of business who are contributing to diversity and inclusion at the university through demonstrated leadership roles in their community. Recipients may be undergraduate or graduate students and will qualify for scholarships on the basis of financial need.
William C. Frogale Endowed Scholarship
The William C. Frogale Endowed Scholarship was established in 2011. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for students in the Costello College of Business.
Women in Business Initiative Endowed Scholarship
The Women in Business Initiative Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for students in the Costello College of Business.
Criteria: Applicants may be either Costello College of Business undergraduate or graduate students with documented financial need. Preference will be given to United States citizens. The recipient will qualify on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The recipient may be full or part-time student and may be either in-or-out-of-state.
