The government contracting market sector is huge. At the federal level, alone, the U.S. General Accountability Office reported that annual obligations through contracts for goods and services exceeded $430 billion. Many of the federal agencies that contract for goods and services, as well as the contractors that carry out those contracts, are located in the Washington, D.C metro area. The government contracting minor is designed for business students who are interested in a possible career in government contracting and those who wish to better understand the industry. You’ll gain an understanding of best practices, processes, and methodologies used in government contracting from a government agency’s perspective, as well as from a government contractor’s perspective.
