Biography
Joseph Cox is the Director of Compliance and Internal Audit at Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), the U.S. arm of the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, S.p.A. Joseph has 29 years of assurance, compliance, and consulting experience working primarily with the Federal Government and contractors working within that space.
As the head of compliance and internal audit for FMG, Joseph established and currently leads the function responsible for ensuring group-wide compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations, and applicable contract terms and conditions, as well providing a full suite of assurance and consulting services.
Prior to FMG, Joseph led internal audit and compliance functions at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), Institute of International Education (IIE), Sotera Defense Solutions, and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). He also served as a Supervisory Auditor with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and provided internal audit and audit readiness related consulting services to various Federal departments and agencies while working with PwC, EY, and Catapult Consultants.
Joseph holds a BS in Accounting from George Mason University; an MBA, MS in Management/Accounting, and MS in Project Management from the University of Maryland University College; and a DBA in Accounting from Liberty University. He is licensed as a CPA in Virginia and holds both the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials.
