Biography
Robert Johnston spent more than thirty years at George Mason's School of Business before retiring in 2013 as an associate professor of finance. He filled many roles during his time at Mason including associate dean and director of graduate programs. He received the University's Distinguished Faculty Award and twice received the MBA Association Faculty of the Year Award.
Johnston served as a consultant to the World Bank and was a Fulbright Scholar in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in the Spring of 1999. He has a broad range of consulting experience including an expert witness in trust fund litigation, financial valuation, cost of capital analysis, and leasing.
His research interests included the applications of financial theory principally to valuation problems confronting organizations and how not for profit businesses attempt to resolve these problems. Johnston co-authored many articles that have appeared in Journal of Business and Economic Studies, Journal of Midwest Finance Association, American Business Review, Technical Topics, and Mortgage Banking.
Johnston earned his PhD, master's, and bachelor's degrees from the University of Alabama.
